There are internal reasons for it to fail, but check that the footpeg mount isn't the problem. After countless impacts the footpeg mount bent back enough so the kick starter wedged in it pretty good.

thanks cleonard but thats not where its getting stuck it wont even start to kick down then when i put it in 1st gear and roll backwards its makes a grinding/whirring sound which cant be good but then it frees it up for a kick or two then seizes back up

Remove the spark plug. Be sure to blow away the crud around the plug with compressed air before removing. Remove the plug from the LH side cover so that you can rotate the crankshaft with a socket wrench. Slowly rotate the crankshaft and see if two full revolutions can be made. If the engine locks up, rotate it in the opposite direction. If it locks up at the same spot, there is internal damage, dropped valve, broken piston are two possibilities. If the engine turns freely for several revolutions, remove the RH side cover and check for damage to the kickstart mechanism, idler gear or primary drive. I have also seen the symptoms your engine is displaying with a failed lower rod bearing/thrust bearing.

im back sorry to take so long other projects getting in the way :smirk: i had a look today and it seems that its not the kickstarter thats getting stuck its the cam it seems that the reverse decomp lobe is sticking and seizing the motor could this be the case and if so are there any answers to this problem? do i need a new cam assembly? when it sticks thats when this horrible wrirring /grinding noise starts until i wind the engine in gear backwards then it frees up then i try and kick it over a few times (wont start either by the way)then it jams up any help is appreciated cheers for now
