I am getting ready to purchase a skid plate from the TT store for my 2007 XR650L and see that they only list up to 2006. Will the 06 model work on mu 07? Are you guys happy with the quality of the TT plates? Thanks guys and great forum!

The XR650L is virtually the same bike from 1993-2009 with the exception of color changes and some minor other changes. I'm pretty sure the frames are still the same too.

i did put a few extra holes in the bottom of the plate w/ a UniBit so when wash'n all of the dirt, mud and sand outta it is easier :smirk:

is the 650L plate a lot smaller than the R or what is the diff. Are you for sure the 650R plate will bolt on to a 650 L.

the R plate is wider in the front and has larger side plates...just look at pictures of the L plate and compare...

i'm as sure as i opened the box, installed the skid plate and took pictures to document it. :smirk:

both designs require a little work to get the clamps on...and i wus
concerned about the R's "square" clamps VS the the round clamps for the L's tubular frame BUT i've done maybe 25 log crossings w/ varing degrees of success and had multipul crashes, the plate has not budged or suffered damage nor the bike

many of the plates are manufactured by Ricochet Offroad Armor and then private labled by Utah and others.

i believe i remember there has been a possible redesign of the R skid plate recently and can't speak for that design but i'm sure there are plenty of the original design sit'n on shelves.

P.S. i wusn't the first person to use the R plate and had the same concerns as u.

Use a drill and make your own mounting holes.
I just ordered a 650R plate for my 650L, I will make it fit.
My plate should be in in the next few days. I can shoot a couple of photos if you want.
