I also have noticed some oil loss after long distance rides but i don't think it's something you should worry about. Just make sure you measure your level often and fill in when you have too.
Perhaps someone else here can give you a more tecnhical answer but as i said i believe it's a common fact and nothing to worry about.

Unless you are leaking big time, leaks don't usually contribute much to oil loss. Just a couple of drops looks like a huge oil leak. The oil is either getting blown out the breather or it's going out the tail pipe. A small amount might actually be vaporizing on the head due to the high temps there. Any that is voporizing is part of what is going out the breather.
A little oil usage is normal. A lot is not. Just how much oil do you have to add after a ride?

On a 200 mile freeway/highway cruise at over 70 mph I use 4 oz of oil. But if I just ride under 55. I don't use enough oil to notice on the dip stick. I check the oil level every time I put the bike the garage. But on multi day trip. I plan to check it at every gas stop. What I have read on this subject it seems to be normal. Ben

Seems to be after a certain RPM the oil rings can't keep up and they burn just a little more oil.
I too have noticed this.

With that much you have got to be able see where it's going. Take a look in the air box.
