What's with the UFO plastic? I was all excited to see that UFO has plastic for the 650R then i saw the prices!!! It's more than i can get them at OEM locally.
So i ordered from my dealer..Rear fender 78.00 side panel for radiator 44.00.
Oh well:bonk:

I've found that I can get stock plastic cheaper than the UFO stuff too.

I think it is one of those supply and demand things. Not too much demand for the UFO stuff, so not a lot of supply and thus the higher price.

Lots of people won't even consider going to a dealer to buy OEM plastic so they can take advantage of that.

The nice thing with the UFO is that you can get it in different colors (kind of). Of course there's the standard OEM color pattern, but you can get it in black from XR's Only (and others). At one time you used to be able to get it in yellow from Monnier (a Valentino Rossi replica package).

I just read a little on the UFO fenders..Made in Italy..ok that explains that!
Good link minimoto,53 IS a good price.

Iv'e done after market fenders before and one actually lasted 3 hours on my 03 KX. Real thin comparred to OEM.So..i kinda stay away from them.

Eddy is doing great!!! I did a write up last week, but have not updated it yet.
Played with it or about 5 hours ended up at a 19e 10 clicks out and a 1 3\4 out on the jet adjust.
This thing is perfect!!! I can idle up to a drop off and wack it open and it takes off like a 2-stroke. It starts easy EVERY time even after a dump on a hill.
I did get 20e needle to try out for a little richer top end, might get to do that this weekend..
As a side note....
Looking at the design of that carb i can see how it might end up with some vacuum leaks over time in the slide shaft. This might be the cuprit on some of the prolems people complain about.

scalejockey, the OEM plastic is very fragile, especially in cold conditions. UFO plastic is more hard than OEM.

I'll get a UFO next time to compare..Beings the original lasted 8 years, that might be a while..
The last fender i bought for the KX (sold)was a Acerbis ,,or however you say it...It was WAY thinner.
The only reason my stock one broke (on the XR)is that some one was helping me lift my bike out of a BIG rut and the pegs were stuck. He grabbed the end of the rear fender while i was lifting on the front.
The rut was deeper than the seat..sometimes i don't know when to say,"No i can't do that"

Ha, You should try buy plastics in Australia. I just bought a UFO rear fender for $109.95 after being quoted by my local Honda dealer $198.00 for the oem rear fender.
The UFO fender looks to be of pretty good quality.

Good timing for this topic. I need to replace my rear fender on my 650R and was looking at the UFO fenders. Can anyone tell me how the quality, fit and color match (Honda red) compares to the OEM fender? There seems to be quite a price difference between distributors, who would you recommend for the best price for the UFO plastics.

The UFO guard is a good fit and lines up as good as the oem fender. The colour (red) is a perfect match. The guard is only a little different under the tail light area where its not the same shape, though this is only noticable when looking up under the guard. The UFO tail light lens doesnt look as good quality (clarity) the oem light lens, but Im going to use the lens off my oem guard. Only because its looks a little better and I can keep the UFO lens as a spare.

Cheers Mike
