Well this week I have been reaquinting myself with my Garmin 60CSX. I decided to download a few Geocaches into it as waypoints so last night I set out on the 650 and found a few very close to my house.

With the GPS on the bike it makes it so easy to find them...I pretty much rode right to them. Since the XR doesnt mind just barley moving it makes it easy. Then when the next cache is 25 miles away a quick 60+ MPH blast through the desert is perfect for the XR...

does the color screen on the 60 csx get hard to see in direct sunlight. i have been nervous about buying a color screen. my rino 110 has self destructed, so im in the market for a upgrade, and the 60 looks good.

I say "as long as I'm either Caching or nearly crashing, it's all good!"

We lost a lot of local caches in the 4 fires we have had in the last 18 months. This pic shows some of the burn area that I personally lost 7 caches to.

Big Denn,

i've had great results w/ my Ram Mount(shortest extension) and 60Cx...

...very crash worthy and adjustable enough to keep it outta the way.

for my type of riding it has to be where u won't get potential chest/upperbody contact. :smirk:

i also have the stock Garmin mount that i wudn't even consider using that's collecting dust...let me know if u want it.

the rino its self shook apart. i hit a little bump and it shuts off, then comes back on, and repeat. something came loose inside. dont feel like tearing it apart. i thought it was the batteries moving, so i used some paper towel to pad the battery cover so it would hold the batteries in tighter, to no avail. its an old unit. the mount is solid. doesent flex or amplify vibrations. i havent looked to see if there were any common complaints about this unit doing this, but id be careful. ill be in tehachapi at the end of october, if you want the mount, maybe boron or 4 corners, after work.

mine did this...after several attempts to prevent the batteries from moving and breaking contact i finally hardwired it to the bikes battery w/ a fuse...haven't had the power interrupted since

i strongly reccomend hardwiring these units per my previous posts. :smirk:

kenzo did you run full batery voltage and did it cause any ill-effects? did you solder to the AA battery contacts, or did you split it open and wire inside? i was thinking about doing this but couldnt decide if i wanted to run wire all the way to the battery, or use a marine cigarette lighter receptical mounted to the handlebars.

Garmins typ. have a VERY wide operating voltage spec. so know problems there...i ordered and used the plug-in power cord that connects to the back of the unit.
