Just wondering, how many XR riders are wearing street helmets for their long rides on pavement? If so, what brand and models are working best. Would like to cut down on the noise for long hauls but not look like some pocket rocket jockey in the process.

I wear an Arai full face, expensive, but nice.

I wear an Arai XD, or a DB helmet and sunglasses for eye protection.

Watch out for the sun visor as it can catch the wind as you move your head and be awkward if you are not expecting it. SB helmets are aerodynamic for a reason, and form follows function here.

Arai Profile. Nice & light. Flows tons of air to keep cool and clear up any fogging. The vents can be closed to stop the air flow.

I bought a HJC CL-15 for really cheap (~$85) off of newenough. I needed something in the fall/winter to take some of the wind off of my face. Not to mention it doesn't rip your head around like a mx helmet does at 65mph+...

wore my fullface once to work, was nice to have the screen and no goggles, less noise too but i wear earplugs anyways so was really quiet. But dont usually wear one, i would like to get a nice hybrid helmet with the flip up shield, but there really pricey!!

I always ride with a Nolan N100E flip up full face helmet and I really like it for the flip up full face but it is a bit noisy and for my next helmet I want to try a different brand of flip up full face to see if there is less wind noise but before I do that I want to try a tinted visor insert because getting caught ridding into the sun without a visor just plain sucks, anyone use one(tinted insert) and does it work good enough?

Z1R. I wear this for nearly all my riding. I have an old open face helmet, but I haven't worn it for nearly a year. Quieter and I don't get the bugs hitting my face at 65. Oh, and it was under one-fifty with a second visor.

I use 1.5 inch wide black tape on the top of the screen it works good:thumbsup:

full face is about what fits you good, try them all. for me it's how much the first click opens the wind screen is a big deal. I have found cycle gear is the best place with the No Hassle 7-Day Helmet Exchange.

Schuberth makes one with an internal tinted visor. Nice helmet, sposta be quiet, but pricey.

There may be others that have this design as the S1 has been around a while.

I went to the arai xd looks like a dirt helmet but it is soooo nice. I love it, the shield pops up out of the way so easy. Expensive but worth it. Same helmet as on the show Long way round. Go with a size larger than what their chart says if ordering off the internet. :ride:
