Glass or plastic lens? You should be able to run a 55w without any prob, you can always do the free power mod and instal a LED rear light if you are worried, the Edge looks cool. Or go HID. If youve got an aftermarket plastic lens model you need to be careful it doesnt melt, plus you'll have a prob getting a bulb. What type of bulb does yours run?

ba20d bulb35w , its the lense on mine, its crap, low is ok, but high is useless, were i live has no street lighting,
im on a budget , and the drz is low on this as its my second bike, i was thinking of putting a micro de light on to supplement high, or running H I D when off road//
is the E alternator the same as the S version?

Yes so long as it isnt a kickstart only. I know how you feel, I really struggled to get decent lighting (I do long distance trials) The acerbis Cyclops can be converted to hid I think, or fit an S headlight unit, but they are heavy and have perm mounts to the fork legs. Ive just bought a 6" bates headlight for the project DRZ I'm building but with the brackets its still £60 but I get a 55w H4 for that. Trail tec do great lights but they cost an arm and a leg and I dont think are road legal. Does you bulb look like this one? http://cgi.ebay.co.u...4QQcmdZViewItem
HID is probably the way to go, do a search theres loads of posts about it.
Good luck

Wheeling has the Jap spec E headlight with glass lens. wont melt. They have the Jap shroud as well, looks like the newer S shroud just with smaller opening.
