I'd like to pick up a plastic tank (I like the IMS 2.6 and 3.2) but don't want to lose the fan in the process. I could care less about the horn so no worries there. So, which tanks allow you to retain the fan?
Which gas tanks allow you to keep the fan on an S/SM?

If you need blue you won't be able to use the IMS 2.6. The website only lists yellow, green, and natural. You might ask it they would make you a custom blue one.
Having said that I really love my 2.6. It is very flat on the front and makes it a lot easier to slide forward without stressing the boys. I took my fan off so I don't know if it would interfere or not. I've heard of people putting computer fans on with a lower profile (not positive but I believe thats what Eddie O did) to keep a fan.

I've heard IMS will make the 2.6 in any of the colors they have you just need to call and order it. And I do know the fan won't fit with this tank unfortunately. If my bike was dirt only I'd already have a 2.6 on there. I just can't lose the fan on the street here in SoCal. It just gets way too hot in traffic.
I'm not really looking for more capacity either, although if I get it its cool. What concerns me more is keeping the seat front down as far as possible, which pretty much eliminates the big Clark, Acerbis and IMS tanks. If the IMS 3.2 fits with the fan that's what I'll probably end up with.

I have the Clarke 3.9 gal and both the fan and the horn are still in their previous location.

I have a 28 Liter Aqualine Safari. The fan is still connected. I don't know about color options.

+2 on the 3.2 IMS. Fan fits fine, but it is noticably wider than the stock tank.
I like running the stock tank for off road because of it's size, but I keep running out of gas at 60-65 miles since installing the FCR.

If you have a Clarke filled, you won't need to slide forward in sharp turns - there's 30 lbs of fuel alone over your front wheel! :ride:
