OK, so I have a 2002 Dr-z E, and I have always heard that they are loud engines and all, but being the slightly paranoid type that I am, I want to run it by you guys. The noise is basically only kinda obvious when im idling, as the exhaust, wind, and all the other noises cancel it out. Its kind of a loud knock, and it sounds like it is the piston. It makes the noise every time it fires, no matter what. It sounds loudest right below the bottom of the head, but i can hear it higher up the head. The bike runs excellent, and tries to flip in 3rd if I play with the clutch. Does this engine happen to have a simply loud piston? *crossing fingers* Thanks all. haha thats good to hear, I kinda got used to it for a while, but I just installed a MCCT this morning, and have been on edge with the whole engine noise thing all day from it. I'm just glad the "rattle" is obvious. Thanks for the response, I was kinda worried the piston wasnt supposed to be clunking, or however you wanna describe the noise. I feel much more at ease now :ride:
