FCR + MRD/SSW Questions

So I was thinking of doing the 3x3 + JD mod, and was planning on getting the FCR 39 or MRD next summer, then the other the summer after. But now i figure the hell with it; I'll just buy both now (or sometime this winter), and skip the JD kit.

But I have a few questions:

  • If I'm only planning on doing the FCR39 is the MRD/SSW still worth it (engine wise bike is stock)? I've read the MRD starts really coming to life once you do the other mods (Hot cams, big bore...).
  • My bike is 8 years old (2002) with 20K. Is it worth dumping $1k into it? Would you do it? Or save my money for a newer drz?
  • How loud is the 102 DB with the Quiet Insert?

thanks

1. Yes, it (along with the Yosh TRC, or is it TRS) makes the most power, even on a stock bike.

2. These bikes will go a long time. If anything just freshen up the top end when you can. That would be a good time for a big bore, further enforcing the need for the MRD.

3. Very loud.

Now my only worry is whether I'll get hassled by the cops for it..

What is the law on loud exhausts in Ontario?

The law in Ontario seems kind of vague

Rob MacLennan said:

law in Ontario is antiquated:

75. (1) Every motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle shall be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and excessive smoke, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, straight exhaust, gutted muffler, hollywood muffler, by-pass or similar device upon a motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 75 (1).

So I'm looking at the TT store and it doesn't say Out of stock on the FCR conversion Kit, does that mean they have some in stock? Because that sticky about the FCRs is gone...

Also, what's the difference between the FCR 39 vs 41? For $30 more would you not get the 41?

41mm is too big for your stock bore. You really need a 470 for it to work well.

So how long does it take to make the SSW?

I ordered mine on the 17th, Dave said he was about a week behind... Then there's shipping to Canada :bonk:

I ended up emailing Dave (didn't want to bother him, but was too curious). Said he's starting it today, shipping tomorrow    :applause:

Any idea how long it takes to ship to Canada? And fellow Canadians order the SSW? :canada:
