yz450f difference

Recommended Posts

The most obvious difference is the fork. The '04 has a 48mm single chamber fork, which has a standard type 3/4" male hex at the top. The '05 has the first version of the KYB twin chamber, which has a 32mm internal hex at the top.

The brake line routing is different as mentioned above.

The '05 engine is quite sluggish and "soft" compared with the '04, but that is almost entirely due to the CDI having a different timing map.

I found a few cylinder heads on ebay.

1 used one and a few new ones.

The used one has a bent valve and now I cant find it to post the link.

And the new one comes complete with sticker shock!

from what i have been told is the inlet cam is bent and has worn out the saddle that it sits in on one end also some surface damage where bucket broke
Those are fairly routine repairs here in the states. Search around your area for something local.

If you can't find anything, and international shipping doesn't overrun the cost of a new head, consider Engine Dynamics.
