With the 1000 just a little over 2 months away, I thought it would be kind of cool to hear how everyone is preparing... mentally, physically, financially, logistically. What's happening behind the scenes? Are race bikes being prepped, built, tested? Trading in the bag of Doritos for an apple? Are you calling sponsors or trying to muster up support somehow? How about the ironmen?

In years past, I've been a lot more involved in the logistical planning - helping put together the race plan, figuring out chase and pits, etc... but this year I was fortunate enough to join a great team that handles everything. They're even building a new race bike. I don't know the current status, but I imagine it's sitting at Precision Concepts now getting the usual treatment.

I always find the two months leading up to the 1000 the most enjoyable, watching everything come together, pre-running, 'training', drinking beers and talking race plans. Let the fun begin... :ride:

Yeah, I would imagine. Still, best to check up on the ol' team now and then to make sure they had their heads in the right place while making changes and doing the mods. Just so there's no surprises race day and all.

That's a seriously steep steering angle (among other curiosities). Good thing it's a trike!

Funny timing... got a call from the ring leader right after posting this and they are actually starting to prep the bike today then it's out to California to get the full treatment from PC.

Sounds like I get cantu grade... yeehaw!

Hey Manch, I recommend for you some crunches for crunch time. You know the spare tires supposed to be in the chase truck not around your waist. Just sayin.....

Mancha... What team was that for? I thought Justin was the one helping with maps and such.

Listen to the Doctor Mancha, I would also recommend limiting your beer intake to a sixer a day. Your history with graded mountainous roads is a bit rocky.... Just look at the scar on your forearm. :moon:

I'm afraid I can't blame a rock for that one... entirely my own doing :ride:

How's that scar on your wrist El Compadre?

The scars itch alot, but the damn cast won't let me really get at 'em. A chopstick just just doesn't cut it. Cast #2 comes off in 22 days.

Speaking of Precision Concepts, right now we have 3 race bikes prepping and two prerunners. This is the earliest that we've seen bikes in prepping for the 1000, so it looks like people are planning ahead. Hopefully, there will be a good turn out for the 1000.

One of them is green....

Going against the better advice of Gary Barr, Baja 1000 favorites Udall, Weigand, Bell, Abbott and others gave it a go at the WORCS GLEN HELEN.

heres some pics of these guys training for this Nov.

First off though, looks like Danger Dave will be running orange rims this year
