I'm a long time rider looking to finally get out to the Ganny for some riding. As far as I've been told / read I need:
1)Insurance and registration..... check
2)Trail pass ..... Available at the visitors center?
My question is: Where is the best trailhead / parking spot to start from? Are there any maps for the trails in the forest?
Thanks

Maps can be downloaded from here http://www.grca.on.ca/ganfor.htm
always some going from the ODSC club http://odsc.on.ca/od...450ed22695aad9e. Its nice to go with people who know the trails. I think a big group is going on Friday this week. You are welcome to join us.

Thanks for the links. I've been lurking around the ODSC forums for a while now trying to gather some info. I'm out for Friday (work) but will be up there Saturday or Sunday to break in the KTM, thanks for the invite though.

You can pick up maps, day and yearly passes at Noone gas station (Petro Canada) on the southbound hwy 115 by Kirby.P2 seems to be the most common spot for parking. Also the parking right off Porter road seems to be popular for KTM riders.

Randy do you know if you can ride your bike from the campground to the trails or do you need to trailer it Thanks Scott

You can't ride any bikes inside the campground area. Only in and out the main driveway at slow speeds.
You are then req'd to take the road to either Porter Rd or Boundary rd., so street plating/ins., or trailering is a must.

When I was at the last ride out from Saneraska I thought they said if you camp by the trailhead you could ride your bike out of there. Not a 100% sure but give them a call,OFTR has a pretty good relationship with the park.

This is somewhat of a loaded question. I have camped at this campground several times over the last few years. At first i was told i had to trailer except for the two events staged there every year , at which you could push to exit road then ride. Fast forward a few years and they let me camp at the back of the park where your site backs onto the trails.
These campground owners are nice people but have had more then their share of experiences with bikers riping up the grass and scaring horse riders in the campground. Lately they have been much more friendly toward the bikers. Unfortunately it would only take a few guys to ruin that.
Best to call and talk to them. Since they do not know you they may request you trailer or push to the road. This can change if you become a responsible repeat guest.

I have a dual sport that is fully insured and has an ontario on road(blue) plate. Am I able to go on the Ganaraska trails or is it off road plates only? Anyone know cause I would hate to get all the way out there to find out I can't ride.

You're good to ride there with a blue plate, insurance and trail pass
