Ganaraska Forest Q's?
Posted 26 August 2009 - 10:39 AM
1)Insurance and registration..... check
2)Trail pass ..... Available at the visitors center?
My question is: Where is the best trailhead / parking spot to start from? Are there any maps for the trails in the forest?

You are then req'd to take the road to either Porter Rd or Boundary rd., so street plating/ins., or trailering is a must.

This is somewhat of a loaded question. I have camped at this campground several times over the last few years. At first i was told i had to trailer except for the two events staged there every year , at which you could push to exit road then ride. Fast forward a few years and they let me camp at the back of the park where your site backs onto the trails.
These campground owners are nice people but have had more then their share of experiences with bikers riping up the grass and scaring horse riders in the campground. Lately they have been much more friendly toward the bikers. Unfortunately it would only take a few guys to ruin that.
Best to call and talk to them. Since they do not know you they may request you trailer or push to the road. This can change if you become a responsible repeat guest.
