My cousin has an 09 TE450.

He lives in the mountains at 6,000 feet.

It gets downright scary dark up there.

The headlight on the TE is weak at best...

In order to extend his riding time I needed to come up with a lighting solution so he can ride safely at night.

Here is the solution-

You had me at awesome but Super Awesome, get out of here!!! :smirk:

Looks good but where talking over $200 here right? The $85 Trailtech X2 is hard to beat light to $$$ wise. I do see a good market for these and bikes with little output as then the light to $$$ becomes much closer as there is no stator upgrade.

I just checked that out. Looks good for the price.

Specs are a little fuzzy on the X2 page though....

The Solstices use very little power-

-.75 amps @ 12 Volts.

Input Voltage ranges from 9 - 50 Volts DC

Uptite has an LED solution and just about has the high beam section done.

It would fit above the one in my pictures. Last 3 pics in above album.

Somewhere around 75 watts for the one in the pic. Has a long cord so it can be used as a trouble light, at least for some things. Engine has to be running. $239.

The long cord thing is kinda cool.

These are all of 10 watts, but they are LED's

LED lighting is coming a long way. Very nice up grade to the mediocre light the stock ones put out.

Are you sure about that? I thought I heard it took much less than that???

Great video and idea, very nice looking. You could prob make a custom setup for cheaper. Use dealextreme.com for led's and drivers.

I've ripped off my blinkers in that location so many time and would have to mount them elsewhere! Other than that...nice supplemental set-up!

The next project is eliminating the front blinkers completely for LED's that are on the way now. Ill post a vid of that project too.

Light is equivalent to 75 watts, I should have said. Yes, the draw is closer to 10 watts. I saw his "high beam" that will set above that light but didn't see it hooked up or inserted into the stock headlight housing. I don't know if the high beam unit is exactly the same size physically as the first one. Looked pretty close. I'll find out more about it and maybe take a pic or two and get some information later. Just a little more cost than the $239 original.

 just wanted to make sure people were not turned off by thinking it was a 75 watt draw.
