lotsa info on the IMS 3.0: I just got one.

With the EFI pump- the design options are more limited than with a simple petcock. There have been reports of poorfit, cracking, graphics available but most have seemed to try to affix the tank shrowds with double tape or glue as graphics don't stick to plastic tanks well. Comes down to how bad you need the range and don't want to carry fuel bottles (or that much). I was kinda getting by on longer routes by carying 2-20 ounce bottles. But I would be constantly worried about MPG-
My concerns with a bigger tank were always- added bulk, weight, too wide, transition of the seat to tank (stock is rather flat so you can about sit on the gas cap for cornering) but those were never complaints in reports. The wings are conserning- they just look like they are going to catch something... I heard of someone doing that once but they he a tree pretty solidly from the sounds of it.

I've had mine on for several months now. No problems. Haven't run the tank dry so not sure about absolute capacity. I'm on a 250 with the lambda out and still get 43mpg on trail so I figure on a 120 mile range. I don't use graphics, the trail doesn't care what my bike looks like.

They have improved the mold of this tank over the original. Still, I think I have an original and it's been OK so far. Nothing I worry about now.

About 2.75 gal. usable, maybe 2.8. Believe I've also gone 120. I carry a liter or two of gas in MSR bottles occasionally probably because you can get lost...

after putting shrowds on with velcro, they didnt look too good due to the fact they stuck out from the tank too much,so i glued them on with gas resistance glue.I went for a ride in big bear last weekend, and did some tite single track.somewhere near the ski lifts is my shrowd. its back to graphics on the tank for me.they only last about 5 mos.,and the tank is wide, but you get used to it

I put the tank on last night- no fitment issues- I do have to turn out the right fork stop from where I had it with the stock tank (so I will have a little wider turning radious).
As far as looks go: I took a step back and thought- "great now everyone is going to ask me when I bought the ATK..." it looks way different, I haven't made my mind up on that yet. I didn't ride it to tell if it feels wide. It acutally doesn't look that much wider though. Definately holds more gas though...

jcarlson9: did george set up your bike with Ibeat yet? check out the thread on CH in EFI labled DIY EFI. I am curiuous what you think of that- I bet george adjusts this though- anyway check that out...

Same- MSR bottles work fine- (wrapped in the same stuff you wrap wine in at the airport so they dont beat me to death if I bail )works fine until the Acerbis tank comes out- supposed to be developed soon...

If you're talking about the bottles..

http://www.superdupe.../psfuel-10.html

didn't buy from these guys but did pay about $10 or less for each, Brunton 1 liter. Just google up Brunton fuel bottle. 2 sizes...1 liter and .6 liter.

Wine wrap...don't know.

Have beaten the holy bleep out of my current IMS tank and it's still holding gas. I have witnesses on the beating! The wings have contacted mother earth many times plus the occasional tree/stump/bush. My previous two IMS's had some QC issues that never let me make it out of the neighborhood due to leaks or pump mounting problems. Halls replaced both free including shipping, excellent service.

Oh...I have seen "said" beating! I think that IMS just had a bad run of tanks and they seem to have gotten it right. With Halls in the mix, you have nothing to worry about.

I run the white IMS tank on my 09 TE510 - I notice the wieght of the fuel but not the change in shape.

No durability issues but my main ground contacts are after getting crossed up in tight single track and running out of leg length to save it.

I had to relocate the front signal lights from the bottom the of light/numberplate housing - they would not tuck inside the wings of the tank - also tweaked hard stops for clearance.

The tank seems to grow when hot (??) - sidepanel fit is easier if the tank/engine is cool when I reinstall. Not a problem, just something I noticed.

Before I installed it - wife said it looked like a urinal.

That's a nice rack. Where to get and how much fabrication did you have to do?

Duh, found the rack on this site. How about fabrication and fit, and how much does it stress the fender?

I don't have stock turn signals or tail light, I had to mount my baja designs rear fender directly to the stock one and it fit easy. I think they said if you have the stock turn signals you may have to move them.

It has seen several falls and it stays put, I really like the set up. On advrider.com rotopax has a discount 10% or so.

I think for my needs and the questionable fit and quality of the aftermarket tanks, I will use a 1.6 gallon tank attached to my rear fender/rack. If my bike is going to look funny then I will save some $$ and potential head aces and get a removal gas tank. More gas, 1/4 of the cost and usable for other riders.

If you want to order it it seems like you'd just get the dealer to do it. I looked at the item and it looks a lot like the IMS, which is supposed to be 3.0 gal. I'm sure someone like Hall's would know what's what on this item as they were the ones that got the first IMS tanks.
