Hi,

Just got my bike last week, when I got it I noticed some blueish oil on the rear swingarm under the air box. I figured this was just filter oil. But after a decent ride on the weekend on the dirt, there was afair bit of oil (looks like engine oil).

I had motard wheels on before the weekend and did about 200km without any oil.
On the weekend I had to use the high motard gearing because they didn't send me the other chain. This caused me to stall it alot and the clutch was getting a flogging. Could this be it or could it have too much oil from new? Does an over flow come through there?

Thanks..

There's no blue oil in that bike but it sounds like the blue coolant- AGIP...

check the level the tank should be half full ( under the airbox)
make sure the hose running to it is intact-

Yeah i saw that there... But it was dripping out of the airbox... and the oil after the big ride was... or appeared to be normal engine oil.

After doing the heat cycles during break in you will need to re-torque the engine bolts as they could be loose and may cause some oil leaks. After you start putting the power to it, make sure you check your spokes and sprocket bolts also.

If the dealer got carried away with oiling the air filter it will drip out the bottom, mine did. Clean the air filter and re-oil with the correct amount of oil. I use the spray on stuff from Twin Air.

Yeah I'm thinking that it's air filter oil as well. I've also gotten carried away and then had a mess on my swingarm.

Keep us posted.

Well, could be airfilter oil (stock is blue too)...

If you saw what appeared to be engine oil ( unrelated to the Blue stuff you saw)- that could be oil from the crank case vent- especially if you fell to the right side- oil can travel though that tube- into the airbell and out the filter. the filter should show signs of this. I have heard of this happening but have never had it happen- Other than that when air filter oil gets nasty it can look like motor oil- no matter what color it started as. I apparently have not used an excess ammount and had it drain like that- I use PJ1 spray oil and cleaner.

That makes sense, as I did drop it twice on the right side during the ride.. Hmm I will have to check the filter on the weekend and let you know :)

Because of the large opening in the bottom of Husky air filter box's I followed Scott Summer's set up advise and cut a piece of open cell foam I picked up from Clarks Rubber (a shop in Oz that sells foam and rubber stuff) and fit it into the bottom of the box. It's about an inch thick and stops that excess oil dropping onto the swingarm and also reduces dust and water coming up onto the filter. It does require a clean every couple of filter cleans.

That sounds like a great idea, where is this setup by 'Scott Summer' ?

HUSQVARNA TE450 Maintenance Schedule

Minor service – 150km
Major service – after every 800km

This is the minimum required to keep Warranty. More oil changes, especially when running in are advised of couse. Good luck with what should be an awsome bike.
