I have a WR250R, had a WR250F(just sold it) and after loads of research, for my riding preferences, decided to sell both for a new Husqvarna TE 450. So far

I know in the past anyways theirs been lots of comparison questions about the WRR, WRF, KTM EXC, Husky TE, DRZ. Ive owned all but the KTM(I did ride one in my adventure of finding a new bike though). and thought if I could answer any questions about these before I sign off out of this forum, I will.

BTW the TC comes in a 250, 310, 450 and 510. I only have experience with the 450.

I am not posting this to bash the WRR. I still like the WRR, it just wasnt the right bike for what I do. My riding is not commutuing. I do require the plate for dirt roads, connecting and occasional pavement to the nearest food mart. Thus my decision to oust the WRF. The WRF carb is an issue for me along with the fact that it couldent go over 45-50 w/o reving really high. Other than that its power to weight ratio in the single track will be greatly missed!! The WRR's "bulletproof" and maint intervals will be missed. It was a blast to hammer down fire roads, just a bit heavy in the tight stuff combined with its lack of power(for me), accentuated its weighty feel on rough rocks/roots/holes. Dont get me wrong, the Husky is no commuter, especially with its tight ratio trans.

Pos-
6-speed, great stock bars, great stock tires, lighter, 40+ HP, narrow feel, high quality stock parts like the Excel rims, wide foot pegs, hand guards, skid plate. Fuel injected, excellent gauge cluster with speed, 2- trips digital and anolog R.P.M., hour meter and more, extremly easy to work on, good shifter.

Neg-
Vibrates mid R.P.M. range, bad fuel milege, 1.9 gal tank, needs mid pipe guard(scorched new pants today), Bad plastic inserts idea that holds most the plastic's(rad shrouds, side plastics) bolts on, not a highway cruiser, slighty hard seat.

Happy :ride: guys/gals.

Jason.

Nice bike, would have considered one if there were a dealer... in Florida.

Gee, now they have a dealer in Palm Bay Fl, only about 180 miles away. When I was buying, Atlanta was the closest.

I had a Husky wr250xc back in the day, loved it.

Still, I won't miss the maintenance intervals.

The dealer in PalmBay doesnt carry Husky any more, I was pointed in that direction too, that changed my mind:lame:

Does the 450 actually feel lighter than the WRR on tight trails? What is it's claimed weight? Nice looking bikes tho' for sure...

Yes it does. Partially because it is, partially because the extra power helps you launch over the nasty crap to make it feel lighter. When a heavier bike plunges into something(instead of over), the weight feels excentuated. On my 07 WR250F, i could just burp the gas and "pop" out of holes. My WRR would not do that. Sure i could wheelie it, but it didnt have that "poping" ability. The Husky feels more like my WRF than the WRR. Also the Husky feels a bit narrower which i like.

Weight(dry)=

WRF- 233
WRR- 274
TE- 242

So that puts the TE within 9 lbs of the WRF and 32 lbs of the WRR. In real life I think its wet weight is more like 15-20 lbs under the WRR and 15-20 lbs over the WRF. The wet weight listed for the WRF is like 260 ish and the WRR is 295. Cant find wet weight for the TE.
