The aluminum panniers, yeah, too much.
But the racks are a nice option to pair with soft bags.

Looks like that bar across the back might sit right where my license plate is (with the DRC edge kit)

the small givi e21 (s) would probably look and function quite nice on this bike; Of course you would have to request HT pre-drill the SU's to accept givi; They used to do this for all their SU racks.

I saw that setup today in town (Happy Trails is a few miles down the street from me). Interesting, to say the least, and I overheard a WR250R rider talkin' about maybe getting that setup for their trip around Alaska.

Happy Trails' quality & fit is excellent. I have this set up on order for my WRR. It's the way to go for long-haul travel IMO. For Baja or other primarily off-road travel, the racks are great for mounting soft panniers like DirtBagz or Ortleib waterproof bags. These racks & panniers will take a serious beating.

I have this setup on my DRZ400S....best setup made IMO. Even with fully loaded panniers the center of gravity is so low that you simply forget they are even there. I usually bring the panniers in the house load them and weigh them to get the balance between right and left as close as possible.

You won't be disappointed with your purchase.

Yeah, right...maybe the top rack frame.

The side racks look super tough and I doubt very many people could make that in their garage.

You must be totally clueless about Happy Trails products. They're one of the best in the biz for dual sport luggage, but hey, if you want to save some money maybe you can throw something together in you garage. Post pic when you are done :p

Not all good things have to look all perty ya know.

Not my cup of tea, but for someone who does mostly road work and/or needs lockable storage they should work fine.
