motox , 12000 rpm is unlikely, the most I've seen on my Vapor tach was 10200 and that was with engine near exploding, I 've posted a question earlier about the rev limiter but this info seems to be a "top secret" as no one knows for sure, same with the power this bikes make, might be 40 sth possibly 50... whatever

The 12000 RPM's was on my 07 WR250F; with the grey wire cut I believe it has a 13000 rev limiter on it. I believe the YZ250F is like 13,600, but yeah the 450's would have a lot lower rev limiter, because they don't have to rev as high.

I was messing about with a zx9r and a r1 on a long road. Ive got sm wheels with 14/42 gearing and both bikes said they had 110 on there speedo and i was sitting next to them easily. I think mines capable of 120mph easily.

i run 15-45 and im just under 100mph on the gps. Im 6'5 and around 275lbs though

14-42 is very close to 15-45. Depending on your size (weight) and taking in considderation the 6-10% overreading of speedo's I think you are on target there.

I just bought a 2011 wr450f and i have topped it at 152 kms an hour or 95 miles per hour. But i am also 120kgs so for an average person i think you might get that, also i was on dirt and the tyre was still spinning

A uncorked WR450 has the power to almost break 100. However, no one would gear one high enough to do it as it would make the bike near unrideable off road. Isn't riding off road the reason to have a dirtbike? Therefore, the actual max top speed is fairly pointless.

I'm 145lbs with 50 rear and 14 front.. I say 60mph comfortable and 75 she's buzzing pretty good. I have it uncorked but has a GYTR exhaust. It still cranks, but it is still a dirt bike.

Currently with the trail saver tip and jetted for 5,000ft... I hit 99mph yesterday.. opened up I have got it to 104mph. 16/48 gearing. Full knobbies which probably slows it a bit. I can't see a WR doing over 110 period. There seems to be a 100mph barrier where the wind just really slows progress. I can get up to 95mph very quickly.. from there I can only inch up the speed until I run out of room.

Who cares about top speed on a dirt bike?? Quite often it's limited by the gearing, not the power of the bike per se. And as a selling point? Gimme a break. I rarely see 5th gear unless I'm on a fire road, and could care less what the top speed is, unless I planned on racing the Baja 1000 or something.

I've had my '07 450 up to 90 mph (GPS). This was with 14/50 gearing, stock motor with JD jetting and an FMF Q4/Powerbomb. It was pretty windy so I probably could have go another mile or two out of it but it was screeming and I started to feel sorry for it.

For comparison I have had my '02 426 up to 86 mph also with 14/50 gearing and JD jetting with a stock YZ pipe.

14/18 tops out at 101mph(GPS) on the black top in a full tuck con Pmex Roja. In the dirt it will only do about 92mph.

I run 14/48 for everything, singletrack, and desert. It works well all over. I use to use the same gearing racing baja.
