Hello! I just got done test riding a WR450 and the guy said it topped out at 120MPH!! My dad believes him 100%, me, not so much, I think it is all BS. Therefore, he asked me to come on here and ask you guys, what is the top speed (road) on one of these bikes. I know it is a newb question and I know you won't ever use the top speed, but I just want to prove him wrong! :worthy:

Thanks guys!

Right around 98-100 with gearing changes and a looooong road (speed should be verified via GPS only)

If you rode it, why don't you know?
Almost all 450cc WR/CRFX/KLX/RMZX top out around 80 depending on lots of factors.

I didn't my dad did, and he rode it down a small road in a small naighborhood where people have houses in their bacyards + it was raining therefore the roads where slick and he didn't was to crash HIS bike, but he opened it up pretty good.. & Krannie, thats what I was thinking, about 80-90 TOPS (stock gearing)

Is the bike stock or does it have the free mods and such?

Stock is probably much slower than 80. You only have half throttle!

optimistic speedo possibly, but now on 17" SM wheels and 14/42 gearing my Vapor reads 93 mph and that's confirmed with GPS, bike gets there quick too so I believe could be geared to do 110 or more easily if one is desperate, I have a road bike too to go fast so WR is geared down 13/42 now to fight gravity easier

as long as your speed is gps verified then i believe you:thumbsup:

as for 110 i really dont see that happening unless you have some serious motor mods

BTW post up some pictures of you bike sounds sweet looking!

I've had my "free modded" 07 to 87mph (by gps) and it had just a little left. I believe it would top out at 90 with stock gearing.

90 is probably pretty accurate. I've only had my "free modded" and jetted 09 up to about 67 or so but my daughter whipped it up to 80 and said it was still pulling when she backed off.

Yea, I know, pretty weak having a daughter that has gone faster on your bike than you:banghead:

I've got a 2007 WR450F. The back sprocket is 50 and I'm not sure what the front is but I'm sure it is stock. I have the baja kit and electronic speedometer. I don't like to take it over or cruise at 80 mph because the engine revs to high. I think I've hit 87 mph but felt like i was abusing the engine. I think 65 mph is the top cruise speed for the bike. Maybe 70 mph.

I thought they would all go around 95-100; I used to have a 98 wr400f and got it going 95 with stock gearing, used two cars to confirm. It did feel meaner than the new 450's though, the thing would tired you out fast because it hit so hard. My 07 WR250F free mod jetted with exhaust tip will do 80 mph, probably turning over 12000 rpm’s…

strangely, my 06 ran 141kph on the GPS doing 15-50 and only runs 156kph with the 15-45 dual sport setup. U need more power when you are hitting the topend.

Why are you worried about topend? Its the grunt that makes it fun.

motox , 12000 rpm is unlikely, the most I've seen on my Vapor tach was 10200 and that was with engine near exploding, I 've posted a question earlier about the rev limiter but this info seems to be a "top secret" as no one knows for sure, same with the power this bikes make, might be 40 sth possibly 50... whatever
