Well now that summer is finally here I am putting a lot of miles on my DRZ400s, mostly on the street. I was riding the other day thinking I would be a lot more comfortable if I could stretch my legs out a little more and thats when I thought I need some highway pegs on this bike. Has anyone else ever thought about this or done it? Or is there something I am not considering that would make that a bad idea? I think they would almost double as a radiator guard in case I ever laid the bike over they would keep the weight of the bike off the radiators.

Thanks for any comments

This is actually very common, especially on KLR's. Many riders have made tool tubes that also act as highway pegs.

Probably the same guy selling the ones listed above also sells them for the DRZ. I don't know anyone using them so I can't comment on them. Do a search in the DRZ-400 forum. There are a few threads pertaining to them there.

Ergonomically speaking throwing your legs out in front of you will put undue stress on your arms/tailbone/lower back. Better for true comfort is a Renazco seat, they build the factory bikes Dakar seats and I've yet to see highway pegs on a bike that runs that event, LOL.

here is the link you need, I do some hard core dirtbiking on my DRZ but it sees mostly street miles and I have thought about this setup for a while as well, they are quite common on KLRs

it has some nice pics, about $80, seems OK to me

I put some Happy Trails highway pegs on an F650. Its doesnt see the same dirt stuff my drz does. I dont think I would put them on my drz. But if you mainly put on street miles, it may work.

Have Happy Trails highway pegs, but . . . seldom use 'em.

Get the feeling some vigilance is sacrificed, along with immediate acces to shifer and rear brake. (Although, suppose I could fit in with my Harley-riding friends!)

YMMv!
