still lots of life left in that bike. if it looks rough i would not go over $500.00. if it does not look too bad mayby as high as $750.00.
need pics to give you better info. have you looked on craigs list to see what they are going for in good shape?

Titles can be messes but if it's ten years out of the system all records are purged. You would pay $115 here in California for a new title, reg and plate. $100 or so for min insurance if your state requires. So $215 + what are you willing to sink into it + what you should pay.
$215 paperwork + $200 tires + $100 tune up stuff + $500 for bike = less than you are willing to pay? When something isn't running you have to bid low.

I can only speak for CA but this is what I had to do after pulling a paperless bike out of storage. Went to DMV said need new title and plate, filled out forms, they did not find the old info in the system because it was over ten years old. They sent me a new title in about three weeks, I also had to get the VIN checked by Highway Patrol to see if it matched paperwork, it did and they filled out another form from DMV. Brought that in and they gave me a new plate and tags. $115 , two DMV trips, met with CHP officer all and all. If it was still in the system I wouldn't have had to get the VIN checked but would have had to pay past dues equalling $520. I was actually lucky it was purged from system. Once I had plates I could get insurrance ($97 from the cavemen).

i had to do this recently in VA.
if the VIN is not in the VA system as being previously registered, you have to send VIN title history information forms to three surrounding states to see if its ever been titled there. if not, then you just pay $45 or so and they issue a new one. only cost me a couple bucks to send all the paperwork off to surrounding states, just a pain in the ass is all.
