So got a 2001 drz400s last fall-- first bike and love it!
has a 3x3 mod, and a full yosh exhaust. runs sweet

so the yosh is too loud for my taste and I feel the power is more than enough for me. so I installed a used sm full exhaust on there and need to rejet I figure.. so after reading threads and pulling apart the carb here is what I come up with

diaphram needle has a blue painted top--- so is that the JD blue needle that I read about? the c clip is on the 3rd clip down..

it has the 22.5 pilot and a 160 main jet..

so perhaps the previous owner (who was clueless!) had the work done..

my guess is if that is the blue JD needle and 22.5 pilot, well perhaps the Keintech (?) screw was put in ? because the screw cover has been removed and it was set at about 2.5 turns out.. and from what I read people use the 22.5 with the keintech screw versus the 25 with the stock screw..anyways

What I am trying to figure out is how the stock exhaust affects the previous set up..

- do I move the clip position?
- different jet size? maybe back to 142.5?

I took the carb out to see what was there and have not test drove with the stock exhaust back on , so I have no test drive to tell.. and I am at 3600 ft with the mikuni carb..

thanks for all who take the time to read--
it is my first bike, but I was a IH Scout head back in High School, so I am not afraid of grease and such!!

if it takes a screw driver to turn the fuel screw, its stock.

jetting for the 3x3 mod,3600 ft and stock pipe should be-

150 main jet
jd blue
clip 3
22.5 pilot jet with the stock fuel screw
2.75 turns

this is different than what you will see most using becuase of the altitude.
