Do you have the revised part number for this new pump?

Wonder if that's true or not?
If it is true that there is a revised pump, then there is a good chance that even if a pump goes bad out of warranty, that yamaha will step up and cover it.
Of course some of that may depend on your dealer and your relationship with the dealer and/or their relationship with their yami rep.
Doesn't seem voluntary recall worthy but you never know.

It's been my experience working with Yamaha warranty on their outboards, that they will more than likely step up and give you the part(s) if you are a little out of warranty. You may have to pay labor to have it installed though. If you are WAY out of warranty, they might not be so generous. But this bike is so new that nobody is WAY out of warranty yet. You are right though. Your dealer plays a big part in the whole process. A good dealer with a good reputation with Yamaha will more than likely get you the part (and maybe even labor if you're lucky).

It's part # is 1100-01090 07123021 'Made in China" By a company that looks like ARRAM.
Googled all of the above but could only find a pump for a Yamaha 'Fazer'
http://www.diytrade....maha_Fazer.html
Good price $6.82 To bad about the Quantity (500)
It looks identical to the WR pump but wouldn't know without some specs.
Can't believe it, All these problems for a $7.00 part:banghead:
I'll keep searching see what I can come up with.

Was almost positive the Fazer/Lander/JDM (08-)Serow 250 uses the Aisin injection, so thats odd - its the XT/Raptor/Tricker/Lander 250 Lump. Maybe the same pump tho. Fazer is assembled in China and Brazil so the pump probably a local source item

Before my pump sh*t itself completely., It had the similar symptoms as yours,
only a couple of times, and not in any extreme heat.Didn't think much about it at the time, Just turned the key off and on again hit the the starter and away it went. I live in south east Queensland and summer time can be 40°C This happened in Winter time around 24°C. When my pump started failing it would always fire up after a time and I could get home.I could never simulate the problem riding on the road.It was only when I pulled the pump out (after it failed) while on the trail that the heat on the motor/pump housing was noticed, To hot to touch it! This got me thinking it was more of a pump problem. The only way the guys at Yamaha could get it to fail was to leave it idling, it should cut out after 20mins from the ECU. Mine died after a few minutes and couldn't be started.New pump fitted under warranty and all was good again, But for how long?
I will disassemble the pump to see if it will shed any light as to what is happening.

For those of you who have had your pump replaced, how did you convince the dealer it was a fuel pump issue? I'm not going to be able to re-create the issue riding circles in the dealer parking lot.

And an update, mine had 13,000+ miles on it now, has been run out of gas in 95+ degree heat at twice and twice more in cooler weather, and run for a damn long time on reserve as well. No issues, again 01/08 and 1090.
