xt350 carbon canister?

Can I remove this unit? is there any benefit to doing so? Thanks!

You can take it off. Just cap off the hole in the carb.
The only benefit is the weight loss.
On a side note, this has nothing to do with the canister. If you haven't already, rejet. The CA version is so lean, I'm suprised thay run.

I ran the line down to just above where the old line ended after the canister but a plug would be better.

Maybe I missunderstand what you are saying, but the line from the tank can not be plugged. It's the vent, and if you plug it, you won't get gas for long.
The line from the carb must be plugged or you're going to suck extra unfiltered air into the carb.

No you heard me right. I just spoke wrongly. I forgot the two lines in one line out. The tank line I ran down as before sans canister, and did a hoopty plug on the carb. How'd you plug it?
