Mapping switch

hey everyone I am new to the WR scene and I have a few questions. I just bought a used 2003 WR450F and I am in the process of cleaning and changing fluids. I am also doing the free mods along the way. My gray wire is still working and I would like to cut it but I had an idea. I have the old on/off light switch from the stock set up (before I installed the street legal kit) I was thinking about running the switch in series with the gray wire so I could have both the WR and the YZ timing curve. Will this work? Is it a good idea? Can I switch it with the bike running? So what does everyone think?

My brother has a switch on his 07450 he uses it on tuff single track when he wants it mellow for hook up.He also said not much change.

I have the switch on my WR. The engine has to be off to make the change, it cannot be done 'on the fly' as the CDI only checks state of the Grey wire on start up. On really tight single track, I prefer the WR setting.

My switch is in the airbox.

The change at low rev's is apparent but not significant thought between 3/4 throttle and WOT, there is a big difference.

I cut the grey wire on my 2008 WR450F Canadian model..

it made absolutly no difference what so ever !!

If I told you, you would shoot me alot of honda parts.The riding I do mostly is tuff single track,not your normal baja road riding woops.The forks where the main problem,the best place for those are sitting in the garage.The mods I have done would not be for everybody.I have all the normal stuff,stablizer,big tank,14t on front,revalve rear shock,with yz 250 07 rear spring,pipe,muffler,normal motor mods.The big change(and I dont need to hear any BS) cr500 RSU forks,xr front wheel,axel,shift lever,half the xr seat grafted to the wr seat.Too make it the same as a xr seat,that wr seat use to hurt just to talk about it.How many of you are riding the beach bash this week.
