Is there any such thing as putting too much oil in your tranny/crank? If you are over by 50mL or 100mL it will kick it out the overflow won't it?

Yes, there is a "too much oil."  What happens is the pressure becomes too high in the tranny and you blow an oil seal.  If you have a little too much, there can be some that comes out the breather but it is not meant to be an overflow...the oil cannot escape fast enough if the pressure becomes too great all of the sudden.  50mL is pushing it IMO.

Drinking straw + some tequila to kill the taste and those 50 - 100 ml are no worries.

^^^ haha... hmmm. I have had face fulls of motor oil before and depending on the brand it doesn't taste to bad. I just took the plug out and not the oil tank bolt on the top and dribbled 100mL out. Oil level looks good now.

must dispute this one...
if the tranny oil cavity is seperate from the crank oil cavity, then the only pressure "buildup" will be a result of a thermal rise inside the tranny.
most tranny vents are located very high in the cavity and thus will not be blocked by high levels of oil.
(my KX vent is located at the top of the kick-gear housing and is higher that the fill port.

If the tranny lube is shared with the crank case then all bets are off, as the blow by from the cylinders do increase pressures and temps.

no need for excessive oil, but not serious if in seperate cavities.

if your trans lube is lubing your crank you are not riding a 2 stroke.
