I'm adding a lighting kit to my KTM and I have some questions regarding which headlight I should use. I was considering the OEM KTM (2008/2009) headlight but then I discovered the Trailtech X2 for about $50 less, and I like the look better. What are general opinions of the X2?

I just noticed tonight that Trailtech is offering a DOT legal version of the X2 (for the same price!), but it's only available for pre-order as of now. Is the OEM KTM headlight DOT approved?


I was looking at a complete kit from Sicass racing for $495, however I can get the parts from Procycle for a lot less. How good are the Procycle switches and harnesses?

My bud rides an 08 530 EXC and he went w the 70W osram conversion kit which uses the stock mask and reflector. Much,much brighter but you lose the hi/lo. DOT legal, I doubt it. You dont need the Hi/lo and no cop is going to check your headlight, unless your running something obviously not legal. Sorry Im not familiar w the X2.

Support Cyclops lights if you can. Ive ridden w the owner, Darryl, very nice guy. He is offroadrider on this sight, I believe.

I just had my bike inspected this morning. I guess it depends on where you are, and who you know, but I had no problems getting an inspection sticker with all my mods and my X2. They just wanted to know that it had high and low beam functions. I have the halogen bulb version, as I don't ride a lot at night and could not justify the HID price. I like the light. I also think the KTM headlight looks pretty sick too. It was a pretty easy decision for me though, as you cannot get the KTM light in blue. :)

go with the trail tech. stock light sucks. unless you get a pre-2003

Unfortunately my stator won't provide enough power to run the lights and charge the battery - I just need something that'll get me through inspection and the X2 is a lot cheaper than the KTM light.
