Hey all, my buddy wants to buy a DRZ 400sm and be able to Dual Sport it. What must be done to use standard 21" and 18" wheels? Thanks, Norcal

Go search around in the DRZ section man. There is a TON of info on the DRZ, a TON.

Bolt the rims on. Change front hub speedo gear (if still using the oem speedo), will probably want different sprockets front and rear (for serious off-road riding), and he'll need an E or S kickstand (it's longer).

e or s model rims will bolt up, but you'll need sm rotors for the brakes to work properly. as previous poster said, you'll need an e or s model speedo drive if you want the speedo to read properly, as well as an e or s model kick stand. i'm running 14/47 gearing on mine and like it just fine. you'll also need a longer chain if you want to run a shorter gear. Good Luck!

Ok, maybe I'm missing the point here. I just searched for SM to S conversions in the DRZ forum and got 496 thread results to look through. 496 for that specific word phrasing. You could try others like SM to dirt conversions, etc. Now if you read through all the available previous posts and cannot find the info you require, post up a question over in that forum and I'm sure someone will answer it for you. The search function is your friend.

I just put "S" wheels, put stock SM rotors on, 112 link chain,15/51 gearing and bought a Vapor speedo and it worked just dandy:thumbsup: yes I also got the "S" kickstand.
It took maybe 30 mins to change it over. I have recently sold the dirt set up and the guy that bought it was riping up single track on his SM:thumbsup:

Did you use the search function? I wasn't trying to be smart with my post. I was just trying to lead you to the right section and tell you how to find the info you need. There, I even went and found a thread for you. :moon:
