97 CR250 swing arm

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what years will interchange swing arms? I just bought mine and while stripping it down to put swing arm bushings/bearings in I found that the chain has rubbed through the arm. Also, would someone please list a source for interchange info. Thanks, Mark.

find someone who welds alum. weld it up and grind and sand it smooth. While your sanding ya mite what to sand the whole thing and polish it if your into that look. I welded my buddys and he didn't like the look I left after I grinded the built up welds that would have bin hidden under the chain guide, so he sanded and polished it , I admitt it dose look cool.

I think this is the route I'm gonna take. My buddy has a good welder for aluminum, so I think I will run it up to his place and weld it up.

The 97 has different linkage than the 98 or 99, they don't fit. They use a different dog bone setup than the 97.

Oh, you know what, I completely forgot that. My bad....but does that affect the mounting point for the linkage to the swingarm? I'm thinking not...:worthy:

I think it was only different where the linkage bolts to the frame. I think the swingarm part of it is still the same. From what I remember, you need a 98 or 99 frame to fit the 98 to 99 linkage. The 97 has it's own design. the triangle part should be the same but the dog bone is a one piece part like the newer 450's on the 98 and 99.

I have a 97 I rebuilt and I needed a swingarm also. I noticed the differences when shopping around.
