What do you guys think a 99 WR400 is worth?

Recommended Posts

I put it in the paper for $3750.00 O.B.O. I have replaced the piston, rings, clutch, and cables every year as a precaution. It has an FMF power bomb header and power core IV silencer with the standard endcap and quiet end cap. I also have a stock YZ header and exaust. Two YZ seats, one tall one standard. Clarke tank, about 10 air filters, scotts stainless oil filter, renthal bars,IMS skid plate, new Michelin S-12's front and rear, new AFAM o-ring chain and sprockets, Acerbis pro-rally bark busters. All the linkage and shock as well as the wheel bearings are new. Pro-Action suspension, and it is street titled here in Michigan. I loved this bike and changed the oil after every ride. The reason I'm asking is that I haven'r got any calls. Do you think i6t is the price or the season?

I have a 99 WR400 and I have often thought the same thing...what is my bike worth?

Your price is really good with all those aftermaket goodies.

BUT, the fact of the matter is, most people dont give a crap about aftermarket parts.

Not like the people on this forum. We love em'!

My suggestion to you is to take all the aftermarket stuff off the bike that you can and put all the stock stuff back on. Then list all the aftermarket goodies here and you will be able to drop the price of the bike and make up the difference here in aftermarket parts.

Book value on a 99 (Clean) without all the goodies is $3800.00 as of right now. Expect the value to drop about 3-4 hundred dollars after the first of the year when the new models are on the street and the 99's are another year older...

Not bad depreciation if you take care of your equipment.

Buck,

As awesome a motorcycle that the WR is I think they're difficult to sell used. I have a 2002 with less than 700 miles on it (bought in February) and I haven't been able to sell it for $4500 OBO. The dealer will give me $4200 as a trade in but will probably be around $3700 in November when my WR450 gets here. I'd rather see someone personally get a great deal than a dealership and believe me if someone would low ball me on that price I would probably take it. ? I originally planned on keeping this one a couple of years but that darned e-button 450 pushed me over the edge. :D Anyway, I think what you're asking is worth it so good luck!

For what it's worth, I agree with MOmilkman. When I sold my 99 YZ400 I took off all the aftermarket parts before trying to sell it. They really don't add any value to a bike in the real world.

As far as an asking price it all depends how bad you want to sell it. "Book" value really has nothing to do with it for me. Money in your hand is worth far more than sitting on a stand in the garage. I When I sold my 99 I already had an 01 426 in the garage. I wanted it gone so I sold it for $2600. It was very, very clean with new bearings everywhere and a fresh valve adjustment. It sold in 2-3 days and the money was in the bank. I was happy and the buyer was happy.

Does being street legal add any value? I think it's worth a few hundred. Here in the Seattle area prices are inflated a bit. Most '99 WR400s are going for about $4000-$4700. I got mine for $4000 and felt good about it.

Anyways, I hate seeing all these good deals right after I bought mine ? !

As soon as Sept hit.......4 or 5 calls from TT and a couple from old newspapers!!

Hang in there.

Try the For Sale section of TT!

Really sux doing that cuz it is kind of like stealing! :D clothes off of her!
