bike ran for a couple hours then died

bike has been hard as h@#l to start the last few rides,once started for the first time it starts fine the rest of the day,then went out the other day for a couple hours,bike ran perfect then exhaust note changed slightly started sputtering then stalled and wouldnt start....still cant start it.need help have to get back on trails thx in advance..bike is a 06 yz450f special edition

check your cam timing. Your timing chain may have jumped a tooth.

I've hear this jump the tooth theory a bunch of times....are the chain tensioners that poor in keeping everything together??? That is very troubling.

Don't overlook checking the valve clearances.

The trouble in the late models appears to start with the chain stiffening. This causes the chain to be artificially tight on the slack side and prevents the tensioner from advancing. If any event such as a kick back or stall occurs that puts a load on the chain with this inadequate tension on it, it slips. Replace the chain annually and you should not have a problem.
