Have you tried tilting your bars forward? Or if applicable, flip your bar clamps forward?

no i havent
to me it feels like the bend just doesnt come up high enough
i know i had to change the bars on my yz250f, but i cant remember what i changed them to. but they were super comfy to ride standing up

The bar clamp may be offset so you can move your bars forward or back. Pivoting them forward will give you a larger cockpit. I would try that first since it doesn't cost anything. If they are still too low you can buy risers. If you want to buy bars, just look at what bar has the highest rise measurement.

You may catch some height increase and better feel by rotating forward. If you're on the pegs - how much increase do you think you need? Just went through this with 2 new bikes

On my XT I measured where my hands fell. I needed about 35mm but I liked the sweep. So I went with Protaper Contour YZ Hi and the Protaper 1 1/8 adapter which adds about 20mm. About 104mm total - much better.

On my DRZ - PO had a mix of adapters, risers and odd bar. I liked the height and position - totaled about 115-120 mm and the bars were moved forward. Windam Mid and adapter get me the height and sweeps OK - still deciding on how to maintain position.

If you can track down a bike with what you want - it helps to check it out prior to swapping.

You mean getting the bars back where you want them?

Yep. The PO had 2 adapters and a riser to get the bars where they were. I like the current position - but I want to be rid of 6 bolted failure points. I can get the height with the combo above - but with a the Protaper Adapter, I would move the bars back 15-20mm from their current position.

I've tossed around at the Zeta as one option - but if you know of any others, Im interested. Thx

What bike do you have? I had the same problem on my RM-Z and switched to Carmichael Fat Bars (stock Honda bend). Feels much better now.

I got those same bars in the same bend for my 07 CRF450r. I was hoping it would reduce arm pump buy flexxing a little. And I really wanted a spare set of bars, so I changed to these and have the stockers ready if needed. I honestly notice bigger changes when rotating the bars than with the different bar bends (at least between these and stock). I don't know if it's near you, but the open track at Blue Diamond worked great for me playing with bar and lever postition. Stick a couple wrenches in your boot, then when you get around to the track there's a huge rock that I set the tools on. I tried at least 6 different positions in like 30 minutes. And as Jeeks says, it's free.

The more you rotate your bars forward the looser it will feel. So adjust a notch @ a time to get the control your looking for.

what are the bar clamps? are they the metal things that rise the bars and can convert 7/8s to 1 1/8?

Like these Magic:

Those are Tusk - but the Protaper are basically the same. You can see where they fit your 7/8" mount.

Here they are installed:

The Protapers give about 20mm of rise as well.

EvoJoe:

Glad you found the right fit - nothing worse than bad ergonomics.
