I have done all mods to my 06 YZ450 that were recommended on the site Pro Taper Windhams, tall seat and lowered Fastways and the improvement has been huge!

But i am 6'5" and it's mostly in my legs so I have a really hard time gripping the bike with my legs. They simply meet over the top of the bike. I came up with an idea and I want your opinion on. My thought is to use the lowboy peg mounts in the bottom hole only which will drop them by about another inch and then tig weld the perimeter to the frame to keep it from pivoting on the single bolt. Can you picture what I am talking about?

I did measure it and the mounts and pegs will not hang lower than the frame so I don't think it will decrease ground clearance any. Any other things I should consider? Think it would work?

Lowering your feet is a risky proposition if you ever ride in deep ruts. Also, the Windham bar choice isn't the greatest for someone 6'-5". The Renthal RC High is 20mm taller and it really opens up the cockpit for someone our size.

I thought about doing the same thing to my 300. For now im too chicken to mess around with it on my nice bike, but i might try something like that on my beater first to see how it goes. Luckily, my legs arent that long, so it hasnt been a HUGE issue yet, but they are long enough where i wonder about these things.

I'd say, power to ya. If you do it, post some pics and tell us how it went.
Worst case you can grind enough of the tig off so that you can mount the pegs in the original position, then paint over where you ground it with something to prevent corrosion.

Cool idea, and good luck.

Don't really see alot of deep ruts here in AZ. Hard packed desert ground that does not rut out very much. Also do a bit of track riding but I figured dragging a peg one inch lower through the soft loamy track won't be a big deal, but that one inch can make a huge difference in my being able to control the bike with my legs.

If ruts arent an issue, what do you think?

Setting my 03 YZ250 up from my 6' 9" frame I went with a TT store seat that was 3/4-1" higher then stock. Ceet/Guts seem to be 1/2".

I went with the F3 lowboy position pegs but the thing that helped the most were the Rox Speed FX handlebar risers. They look weird but let me move the bars forward as well as up and more forward then any other set-up I've seen. With the 2" rise [slightly less as they're rotated forward, I use the regular bend RC bar.

When you really big a few mm isn't enough. Face it, we're going to have a more severe bend in our knees then Ricky Carmichael no matter what we do but we can also reach the top of the refrigerator and he can't!

I already have risers on. They helped much but with my 35" inseam I need the help down there more. Any other idea on relocating pegs without wleding my frame? Any good shade tree fabricators want to kick in?

BTW: WHich seat did you go with? Make... model? How is it comfort wise?
