Hi,

Im looking at buying a 02 250exc. Does this year have any problems.
Does the 02 have the same frame as the 03 and 04 models. Is the motor the same motor as the newer models. Ive heard the older KTM's have the kokusan ignition and its not reliable, Does the 02 have this ignition.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Yes the 02 has the Kokusan ignition , but never had a bit of trouble with mine. The bike is a joy to own and ride so don't worry just go out and ride . As for the frames uh I don't know that answwer.

As far as the exc, 02 and 03 have the same frame, 04 has a lighter frame and motor, 05 was an upgrade also. Th ignition is fine, no worryies. I would say buy as new as you can afford. In 04 they lost a bunch of weight. I would get an 04 or newer, butthe older ones are great machines also. Check the FAQ at the top of this forum.

I have an '02 KTM 300EXC. Great bike. If the bike has the WP 43mm forks, you will need to get them revalved and resprung for your wt. The 48mm are an improvement over the 43's IMO. It is a great bike, Like the guy said before, just go out and ride and then you will know what has to be done to bike as far as suspension and jetting goes.

the mid 90s had the igntion problem

03 48mm were harsh and need to be revalved, stock 02 are pretty good with the right springs for you.

03 frame same and change in 04 as said above
