Okay so i have a 2001 yamaha 426 and its been running like crap after sitting over winter. When riding at about half throttle the bike seems like its getting too much fuel, sounds like its missing really bad and has a nasty popping noise from the exhaust. Ive disconnected the TPS and adjusted the carb back to stock settings so does anyone know what could be wrong with it??

Pull the carb apart and check the jets for dried deposits of varnish.

Yes. Be sure to check the pilot jet, and the air jets in the mouth of the carb. Remove the needle jet (the long brass unit the main jet screws into) and clean it and the bore it lives in thoroughly with carb cleaner and compressed air.
