Hello,

I just ordered my motojack rack and was wondering if anyone else has one. What do I need to watch out for? Any parts that wear abnormally or anything like that? Also is there a good way to lock the bike on to the carrier at night so that I don't have to worry about it being stolen? I guess I could just chain the bike to my truck hitch hugh? Thanks for any tips.

BFS,
I've been using one for about 18 months now and I love it. It is so much more convenient than hooking up the trailer, especially when I'm traveling alone to my riding destination.

I use a stainless steel locking hitch pin to lock the unit to my vehicle and usually run a cable lock throught bike frame and Motojack when I have to park it somewhere.

The one thing that I recently did was add heavy-duty coils and shocks to my '02 Toyota Landcruiser. It helped dramatically with rear sag and feels a lot more stable at speed. Of course the ride is a bit stiffer but not noticeable by anyone but me.

It would probably be a good idea to attach a brake light to the rack as it covers most of your taillights.

I also always tie-down the bike. I attach one from the far hand guard to a hook on the hitch unit and one from the subframe to the other hook on the hitch unit. Never had any problems this way.

It’s a good idea to spray the unit with WD-40 from time-to-time to help avoid rust.

Good luck with it.

Tim

I had 2 MotoJack Racks, the first one broke when I was on the freeway doing 80mph. The weld cracked right where it comes out of the hitch and goes 90 degrees up. It cracked and then the whole thing folded back. It didnt completely break off, and it stopped about 2 feet from the ground so their was no damage to the bike. 2 feet from the ground may not sound like much, but it was a lifted truck and you couldnt even see the bike in the rear view mirror, it was that low.

They replaced that one, and gave me a new one that I used a few times and then sold. I like the idea of it, but it could be built better, a lot of times things dont line up right and you have to force it to go together.
