Any problems registering imported bike in CA?

Thinking of buying a YZ250F from Canada. I know it is a red sticker bike but has anyone had any problems with CA DMV lately? I've read a few posts that the DMV now will not register a new bike from Canada even with the proper VIN number digit, but don't know if that applies to a red sticker bike.

Check out the posts on this in the CRF forum. It can be a nightmare. More than one person ended up reselling their bike out of state.

Registered my Canadian WR450 at DMV two weeks ago. All they needed were the customs release and a visual inspection of the VIN #'s. They gave me a GREEN sticker but I figure that they will eventually RED sticker me.
