Come on I know you are there. Now we can talk about it here. :)

I have been powerlifting since I was 16 and I am 35 now. Took a break from age 28 to 33. Was hell getting back into it too. Now I lift with a former world class Powerlifter and he pushes the hell out of me. :D :D :D

Any more out there? We could have a TT Powerlifting-Bodybuilding show. :D

I can lift my son's bike above my head, my aim would be to lift the WR up and just throw it in the back of the trailer... LOL Now that would intimidate the other riders in the pits... LOL

H.I.T. here, big fan of Arthor Jones and Ellington Darden Ph.D. Squat till you drop. If you don't throw-up after barbell curls, you're not hitting it hard enough.:)

Been working with the weights since 1981.  I have competed in a few powerlifting competitions in the 80's , placed 3rd in my first and 1st in my 2nd comp, the UP's.  I have since turned to bodybuilding, since it is easier on the joints, more reps.  Also my knees took a toll from heavy squats, my favorite.  Work a lot with the dumbells nowadays, still like to train fairly heavy.  I have never took longer than 10 days off since 1981, just love the sport!

80% of my training is with dumbbells now. It has really improved my physique. Gives me a more balanced look. And I always go HEAVY!(Well almost) :D :)

Another H.I.T. guy here.  I usually work between powerlifting and bodybuilding.  And I'm not good at either one!  :D  I've been without a lifting partner for about 3 years now, and it shows.  I can't keep partners for some reason...(H.I.T.) :)

One thing about H.I.T., not only does it make you strong, it builds mental focus also. I have been ask to never return to one neighborhood rec center because a set of H.I.T. squats are not very pretty to watch. :)

Been in it since I was 16, I'm 35 now.  I'm a former Mr. Nevada, and World Gym overall champion.. I got all the way to the National and Pro qualifier level when reality hit....In order to compete at that level I'd need to take a list of drugs as long as Carmicael's moto win sweep outdoors last year.  I decided to keep my day job and take up dirt bikes.  That was 5 years ago.  I'm happier now and still lift every day... I used to be 275lbs. at 5'10".
Now I'm 215 and can jump doubles and can do the "spine" on my bmx bike.
I'm glad I did the bodybuiling thing though, it made me some money and still does to this day.  When I'm not doing my regular job as a school counselor, I'm making a little extra cash training people and consulting bodybuilders that are still competing at the national and pro level.  It helps pay for the cool CRF450.

This is off topic, but what are H.I.T. squats?? They must be pretty gnarly if they got you kicked out of a gym!!

H.I.T.=High Intensity (strength)Training. The basics are;Work heavy, one set per body part or group, slow repitition(2-seconds up, 2-seconds down or better yet, 5-seconds up and 10-seconds down :)in perfect form. 8-12 reps per exercise done to muscle failure (to the death, you can't hold it up any more). By the time you reach the last rep with a set of slow heavy squats, sweat will be running down your face like in a rain storm. Every vain on your body will be popping out. You will be sucking wind like a 5HP shop vac. Noises will come from your mouth like you were possessed. Your quads, glutes, and hamstrings will be on fire. Your spotter will be yelling at you for one more and like a junkie wanting more high and you go for it until the bar hits the rack. HIT workouts are not pretty to watch. It freaks the weekend warriors out. Builds mental focus and turns you into an animal and the pump last for days :)

Too funny! I could never get any of my workout partners to show up consistenly on leg days! Never seen so many tough guys throw up in a few short minutes. I'm left now doing mostly cardio workouts, joints are toast from years of drugs and powerlifting. Anyone want to buy a bunch of olympic weights and a smith machine? :)

I work out every evening for 4 hours or so. I do squats out of my lazyboy, squats off the can, I go up and down the stairs to the fridge or cooler for my beer :D, peanuts or popcorn then to top the night off, I get a little cardio from my nuchie puchie activities  :D with the wife. :)
Anyhow, When I played rugby for the Air Force in the early 90's I did the megamass program. Day 1:chest/triceps  Day 2: Back/biceps  Day 3:  Shoulders/calves   Day 4: legs/forearms... one day off. 3 exersizes each muscle group. reps of 12-10-8-6 with increasing weight. 30 min of cardio after.

Do any of you guys that are into bodybuilding compete a good level of MX?
I've just got back into MX after a break of 7 years and have been going to the gym lifting weights for about 9 years. Everything I read says not to lift heavy weights if you ride MX it is detramental. I haven't lifted weights for a good 4 months now and the body is slowly shrinking, I want to start building up again, but not to the detriment of my riding.
What do you think?
