From What I can read; The WR250F timing was retarded on the 01 and 02. With the new cam in the 03 is there a need to change the timing in the new bikes ?

Still Waiting for my February 03 WR 250F

The timing is also retarded on the 03 WRF compared to the YZF. With the new autocomp feature of the 03 cams, you cannot simply change the timing. For YZ timing on the 03 WR you must purchase the 03 YZ exhaust cam.

Thanks Rick, The WR timing might be just right for me, I like the tight stuff and lots of low end. If my new 03 WR ever gets here I am going to try one mod at a time so I can I can judge the advantage or dis of each one or the combos.
Rode a o3 YZ250F Last week and LOVED it. If the WR handles like that I will be in Heaven.

I'd like to point out that WR exhaust cams are actually ADVANCED, in relation to YZ timng. This reduces the valve overlap at TDC, as the EX cam closes EARLIER than the YZ.
It is a shame, though, to have to take that nice new WR cam out and put it on a shelf.

Those of us with '01 & '02's that prefer WR timing will buy the '03 WR cams.
