Thinking of Selling my White 2007 WR450F

Well after putting a lot of time and money into my bike, I am thinking of selling it. I'm not sure what I should ask for it though.

It is a White WR450F. With a rear fender that was made for the WR (it has the CDI area). I did have to use a KLX450F head light though. It has the AIS, Racetech front and rear suspension, Desert tank, and soft seat.

I even have it setup to be titled for street (here in texas), meaning I have the dual headlight, brake light, mirror, (need horn). I even have a key wired into it.

So, what do you think it's worth?

I'm inclined to say that it will be worth just the same as the average 07 wr450 in your area. Color changes and other extras don't add too much/anything to the resale value, unfortunately that's just the way it goes. If you can complete the street title process, then you might be able to squeeze a little more out of it, but not much if the process isn't too difficult to do in texas, in california a street title would add to the resale value.

Any reason why you are thinking of selling it? If you're selling it to upgrade to a newer WR, you might be better off spending a little bit on some engine mods, and might come ahead in expense versus selling this one and buying another bike. An 07 isn't exactly an "old" or outdated bike.

I may buy me a KTM 530 EXC. I would like to do a little more Dual-sport riding and want the 6th gear.

I agree, there is no reason to upgrade to an 09 WR, they are pretty much the same bike.

Well, that's a good reason to move on. Just remember you're going to take a huge hit in depreciation if you do decide to sell the wr, and ktm's can be expensive. If you want extra grunt and higher speed, how about throwing on a big bore 490 kit, 06 yz cams, maybe head port & polish, and taller gearing? That would make a killer wr.

KTM all the way, I love my wr but ktms are just built for bigger humans. The 6th gear is really nice too. Trade that horse in or try to keep it and get the pumpkin, lots of free stuff ride now.

You might want to check further into the 530exc 08 & 09 issue with KTM. I was considering one and after seeing all the noted issues with overheating, hard starts, oil migration, etc, mentioned here and over at KTMtalk, I decided to get an 09 WR450 and have my dealer plate it. I'm not much of a wrench so reliability was important to me. Also, it seems KTM is not consistently stepping up to "fix" these issues as many owners voice concerns to this effect. What did it for me was after questioning the local KTM dealer about these issues, and getting a blank stare, they finally contacted KTM and were told there is no problem with these engines. During more conversations, they then confirmed that a brand new 530exc was in the shop with overheating problems, and they were making the owner install a fan kit... Great service on a new bike with a problem..

We could start a new subject on KTM vs. YAMAHA that would surely end with Yamaha as the more reliable bullet proof motor.... BUT

As far as a white bike fetching more money.... hmmmm I don't know, I think it might add a small amount of value especially if done right. I have a whited out 07' and people are constantly asking me if it's a honda:busted:

In terms of value of the bike, that's all relative to where you live.... I've found bikes here in the NW usually go for more than most other parts of the country. You could start asking $5200 up here for that bike and probably assume you will get $4900 or more. Check out bike prices in Canada!!!

My $.02 - I'd plate and ride it... I just bought another 07' that had like two hours on it. Paid $5k, it was registered and plated in Oregon so it made it easy for me to get a WA state plate for it... my other 07' has two race seasons on it and I'll be asking $5200 when it goes on Craigslist next week:busted:

I wouldnt worry about KTM reliability at all. IMO they are on par with Yamaha and that's saying something...maybe the edge going to yammie but a distinction without much of a difference...again IMO

Having a 6th gear and more displacement is the deal for DS-ing but I will be staying with yammie though I'd love the 6th gear for sure. More top end is just a counter sprocket away. If I'm DSing and find a gnarly trail I pack my 13 CS and change it in minutes.?

I certainly have no intention of wanting to start a Yammie vs KTM debate as I also thing KTM makes a great machine. I was a heartbeat away from getting a 530exc but the info available on the new 450 & 530 made me skeptical. I just wanted to make sure Crash was aware of the situation. I think if I was a little better equipped to be a garage mechanic, I still may have got the KTM. Anyway, based of my riding skills, I'm sure the WR is plenty of machine for me.

I can't offer Crash much help in the price matter due to where I live, northeastern Canada, although if the bike was here, I'm sure he'd get top $. I just checked a couple of the local classified areas and there is no used WR's available. Obviously, all the owners are hanging on to their bikes. Best of luck on whatever you decide.

Thanks for all the info guys, it's appreciated. I'm really VERY happy with the WR. I really wasn't even looking at a new bike, but I stopped by the KTM dealer to see about getting Bibs put in and I was looking at the bike and he made me a very good deal.

There are a couple of things I like about the KTM over the WR. I'm 6'2" so the KTM is a taller bike and the 6th gear. The WR has plenty of power for me in the woods and trails and I have thought about putting a big bore kit on (I really don't need the extra power for what I would guess would be a loss of reliability). This is my 2nd WR and as I said, I'm very happy with it.

I still don't know what I'm going to do though.?!
