O.K., after shopping for months for a used 250f I just decided to get a new 03 instead. So tell me what are the "must do items" I haven't ridden it at all yet. It is cold and snowing right now anyway. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Grease entire bike. Steering stem bearings, rear linkage, axles, swingarm pivot, put anti-sieze on the rear axle tensioner bolts. You DON'T want the steel bolts to seize up in the aluminum swingarm. Replace stock chain, they are junk and will wear out your sprockets prematurely.

Do everything that James said and get new bars. I recomend Protapers. Also, depedning on your terrain and riding style you might want to get a new rear sprocket. I chewed the stock one pretty fast.

If it isn't time to break it in yet then DON'T start it untill it is time to FULLY break it in.
