I have a 2001 WR250F that I bought used in october 2001, it was bone stock, no mods at all were done. My question is that I have seen in parts websites and stuff that the WR came with a couple of wrenchs maybe a plug and an axle wrench. I've looked around on my bike but I can't find were they are stored. Does anyone know? Thanks for any info.

The WR comes supplied with a plug and spoke wrench along with several spare jets, you will find these located in the previous owners tool box :)

That's funny. :D

Actually, I bought mine brand new and I'm still looking for those parts/tools. I even asked the dealer. It amazes me how stupid they can make me feel for trying to describe something that is probably in one of the prep workers' personal tool boxes. :)

No these items are not in the prep mechanics tool box, some dealers like to sell that stuff back to you. If you bought the bike new and did not get the plug wrench, two jets ,and the spoke wrench, manual, and the riders book tell the dealer nicely that you will contact Yamaha coustomer service. I should hope that should get some results.

Your probably right JL. I bought the bike used only a few months old and I thought that the tools may be strapped to the frame somewhere. But it sounds like they came loose in a seperate bag or something. If thats the case they must be long gone! I wanted to change the plug and thought it would be good to have that wrench, has anyone had a problem doing the plug without that specific wrench? Thanks for all your replies. Phil.

You will need the wrench. It is specific to your bike. Hopefully you can get a new one if the old is not around.

Hi: The plug wrench, 2 extra jets, the manual, and the Ride Safely booklet all came in a plastic bag from the dealer w/every purchase. Call the spode you bought the bike from as he probably has the wrench in his toolbox, and the manual in his garage(2 mths from now he'll find it, think, man, I need to call the dude I sold this too, but, then go naa, screw it.) If he knows where it is, he'll probably gladly give it..don't pay for it ! If no go, email me, as I have 2-3 spare plug wrenches(for postage only)--you'll need them, as even with the tank off, the plug change isn't slick. Yes, you can do it w/out the tank off, but it's not easy. I don't need my manual, but it'll take a little cheese to get it. Let me know........... :)

Rockyracer, I have long since replaced the items I needed including a complete range of jets and all the tools to service my bike both in the garage and out on the trail. The dealer did provide me with the owners manual - I would not have left the store without it. Trouble is, it came in the factory plastic packaging which had been opened and stripped of all other contents.

The parts department did offer to sell me a plug wrench and spoke wrench, but they were the standard aftermarket stuff off of the shelf (not OEM).

As far as I am concerned, these were minor items and I did not feel like making a battle over them. I was far more discontent with my overall experience with that particular dealer that I felt the most appropriate remedy was to take my business elsewhere. Anything else I had to say to them would not have been stated "nicely".
