I have a 2003 WR250F, I just purchased a k&n filter for a 2003 yz250f and it dont fit good enough to even use. Is the filter different on the WR? Is the K&N even the best way to go. I also put on a Works Connection Glide Plate and it could not fit any better.

I personally wouldn't recommend the K&N for dirtbikes unless you ride somewhere with no dust or sand. The K&N's wide holes do increase horsepower, but they let in small dirt particles that foam filters catch. I'd stick to stock. And yes, the '03 WR and YZ airboxes are different. As to why it won't fit, can't help ya there. Put the stock back on or get an aftermarket foam one. As for the skid plate, I have the same one on my '02 YZ. It was difficult to get on at first b/c it is bent more than necessary. You'll learn the trick to it after awhile. Besides, you should rarely ever have to take it off.

I have a K & N filter and absolutely love it. The seat of the pants power increase over the twin air I was previously running was great. Clean up and oiling are easy too. I have been running mine for almost a year now and have had no problems. I too had heard about the finer particles could possibly cause some problems so I put some double sided tape inside my intake for a race (dusty conditions) and found no dirt on the tape. It didn't even change color. From then on I had no concerns.... just increased HP.
I can't help you with why yours does not fit but wanted to share my results with them. Check your part number again and see if you may have got the wrong filter.
Good luck.

AND I spray with degreaser, rinse under hot water in utility sink, blow dry with aircompressor, apply spray on filter oil inside and out, allow to dry over night and then reinstall. It could probably be used in 1-2 hours if needed but I tend to let it dry over night.
It is not a popular filter with the dirt community for whatever reason but it is working very well for me. Who knows maybe I will be rebuilding in a month or two because of it but I don't think so.
Cost was under $40.00 I will look for the part number if anyone is interested.
Hope this helps.
