Chickenhauler, you're missing my point.  I'm all for as many people racing as possible and promoters turning a profit BUT there comes a point where it just gets ridiculous.

My problem is I don't like motocross being turned into 4 year old t-ball like everything else in this world.  There are winners and there are losers in sports.  If you're not good enough to be racing C class, then keep practicing and work your way up to that speed.  Where I grew up, C class was the lowest class and I didn't race until I felt I could stand a chance in that class.  Should someone with as little skills as a D class racer really be racing? C class can get pretty sketchy, I don't know if I'd want to see D.

You're missing my point entirely-no air charlie explains it quite well.  It was being practiced just like he said around here for Hare Scrambles, and they called it "X CLASS", no points, no trophy's, and reduced entry fees, but only allowed to race it once to "get your feet wet".

I think "D" Class has it's merits if it's implemented properly....not a "real" race with any status, but a chance for green riders to get a taste without being thrown to the wolves.

In the early 90's Kahoka, Missouri had a beginners "D" class, the catch was that as soon as you won a race, you were automatically moved to C.  It was a great system for allowing new riders to get started.  You saw everything from RM 125s to XR 350s in that class and it seemed like when the winner of the last race moved to C there was always at least one new guy to take his place.

That and we get to see both sides of the coin without the emotional inflection that creeps it's way into spoken word.

last year when it came to LL 30 B class we "caught" a bunch of riders bagging.

this year either we didn't have as many.  OR no one cares.  what will suck is if we find out later in august that top 6 out of the top ten in that class rode A class, that would suck for sure.

Now I do like this method of having a D class and would be all for it.  If for nothing else, it would be one entertaining class to watch!

Now we're on the same page-I agree that D class shouldn't be a "permanent rank", but a limited amount of races to get the feel for things, then either decide it's not for you, or step up.

This Thread is Awesome!!!!
Just looked at the results from southeast regional at mill creek.   Definetly atleast one rider who qualified  in vet 30 B/C who has raced 25A and 30A for the last couple of years around here.  Sandbaggers suck!!

there are plenty of sandbaggers in harescramble racing but it's more obvious because you wear a transponder and lap times are recorded.

the 201-open C winner
Bryan Clucas best lap 11:35

A class winner
best lap 10:58
most laps were above 11min though

this is straight from the horses mouth:

a simple call or e mail to mx sports or AMA will boot that dude out to the curb.
kip won't let that kind of thing slide.

i would love to have this type of system for MX but it's just so exspensive for the transponders!
but for HS racing it rocks.  we just posted those up last night, but need to look at the times see what they look like.

Taking son to new track, for him 2 hours away, that has a beginner class. This beginner class is one that you can only ride in for 1 year period then they automatically move you up PERIOD. This should be fun to watch

They also have A,B, and C, so next year he will have to run the C class there, but that is fine with me cuz if he aint ready for the C class then he needs more training or just go on practice days for fun. :worthy:

i just seen the overall results from a harescramble.some    ~C~ riders
finished in the top 50% in big bikes and the adult quad race.
the guys that run the show don`t seem to care.
can an experenced racer tell me if it`s ok?

How are they running the starts?

I've been to some enduro's where the lower classes (women, C's and B's) run before the A's, which can give them some faster/easier course times due to the course not being completely rutted/thrashed.

there are some people i race with that raced the A85 class and are now racing in the C200 class and dominating. I would switch classes if i could but i am limited to the c200 class because of my bike size
