Tranny bearing Removal???

Recommended Posts

If were talking about the same bearing you can put some ice on the bearing itself, then heat the case (only areas surrounding the bearing) and then it should come out quite easy. If you watch the rockymountain bottom end rebuild videos on youtube one of them mentions it.

? Is there a special tool to pull the trans bearing out of the case where the clutch shaft comes across? Or is there a trick to it?
Yes there is. You need a blind bearing puller. Some car parts places or rental outlets will rent you one.

Heating the case to 260 ℉ (use an oven if possible, if not, heat until spit bounces off) will help. Handle it with gloves while it's that hot. Sometimes you can simply slap the heated case down on a wood bench and dislodge the bearing, but the puller is the way to go.
