Got my Poor Man's Street Street-Tard out of storage today, changed the oil, fired it up and went for a 40 km rip in 1 °C temps. :banghead: :banghead:

Good question. I'd imagine we'd contact the Moderator for this forum and ask him/her. Next question ... who's the Moderator of the Supermotard forum? :banghead:

No sir, it's a Corbin. It's a good seat, although if you mount it with a Maier rear fender be prepared to do some grinding/filing on the fender to get it to fit with the Corbin (factory seat fits perfectly with the Maier btw). :banghead: :banghead:

I have a '91 DR350S that I've been thinking of selling and replacing with one of the new 250cc motards, but seeing this thread has got me wondering about a conversion.

A question comes to mind as there seem to be a number of dirt to street conversions, but limited (at least as far I was able to find) street to dirt ones. Is there a reason for this?

Cheers Greg

Themanoy: Nice job!:banghead:  I like the gold wheels for sure. I think
my next SuperMoto project bike will get the gold rims like yours.
I knew you would be happy with the bike in SuMo trim. Changes
the whole character of these bikes.
:banghead: ride on and enjoy.

I can't answer for anyone but myself, but once you go from dirt bike to supermoto your bike will rock your world so much you don't want to go back. My 1992 DR350S rides like it's on rails and you'd have to ride it back to back against yours to see exactly what I mean. I bought the 17" wheels and tires as a package and love the way my old bike handles. It's much cheaper to convert it with the 17" wheels than to buy another bike.

Thanks H-Side. I guess what I was really meaning to ask is "Is there a reason that most conversions are from a dirt bike/dual sport orientation to motard vs motard to dirt bike IE Do people put off-road tires on a super motard?" I live in a rural setting where about 40-50% of the roads I seem to use are still dirt and the ones that are paved are often in rough shape. I don't ride off road other than on my Mountain Bike, so you might say I'm really a road rider. Hence my interest in a road bike but something that I don't mind getting dirty. Perhaps I need to look at this a bit more before getting a new bike. As you point out it would likely be less expensive.

Cheers Greg

Used dirt bikes are usually less expensive that used street bikes. People can get a good deal on a used dirt bike and get a Baja kit that can make a dirt bike street legal in some states and then get some supermoto wheels and tires. What it sounds like you need is a dual sport with a tire that's rated about 50-50 dirt and street. If you have your heart set on a supermoto, then look into getting some more aggressive dirt-street tires in a 17" size. Back when I had Pirelli MT-21 DOT tires, I used to ride my DR350S in the snow.

question: what can you guys say about the acerbis DHH headlight?? im planning to get one for my tard.

I'd say, "there are two DHH headlight options"
One I like the look of and the other I don't.
Just my personal preference.
------------
The one I do not prefer the look of:
http://www.acerbis.c...light/3024.html
------
And the one (I) do like.
http://www.acerbis.c...light/3026.html
-----------
Again, just my personal preference, because I have
never owned either one before.
---------
Here are some others.
http://www.ufoplast....dlights/PF01707
-----------
Looks like the one I have on my GasGas is no longer made.
It has the integrated front turn lights in it and I think it was
called "Plast".
Search around as there are quite a few design and style options.
Good luck, Jeff
