I've noticed after looking through some of the pic-based threads that quite a few of you guys are using header pipe tape at the join of the header and slip-on.

I'm assuming this is to shield heat from the rear shock reseviour? Noticed any difference doing this?

I put it on my pipe to keep the heat off of the IMS tank that I had installed. The right side petcock hose and bottom of the tank got so hot that you could not touch them. I wrapped the pipe and noticed a big difference.
