Hey MLN,

According to my calculations, if you paid 7800 CAN, you couldn't have gotten the bike for 4850 US out the door. That would have put the exchange rate somewhere it hasn't been for the last three plus years.

The dealer said 7800 and I offered 7400, which he took. They added a very reasonable 99 CAN setup (I'm seein some US dealers advertising low and then charging $700 to $800 "setup fees" - what a voodoo, backdoor way of misleading a lot of consumers). I paid the $524 CAN GST tax which I'll get back from the CAN Gov after I send in the paperwork.

And SFO..... I too am not a dealer in case it sounds that way. I just did my homework for a few months and found what I thought was the best deal. Good luck Stevo. If you pay a little more, don't worry.....the thing is worth every penny.

SFO
I just hate to see someone (WR owners) pay more than they have to. I'm sure they can find something else to spend the extra $300 to $1000 dollars on.

Crippler,
The frenzy of riding season was crushing...
I didn't have a ride and my shop got one 426 in.
There were a line of dudes lined up to score on this bike, all my riding bro's said this was the bike to have, they even signed the note for me.
I have ridden it every wknd since, it looks hashed now, but &%$#@!, I am riding it.
Truth be told with financing, warranty, and nonsuch, the total is over 12k.
I got a deal. I am having a gas being in the wr club. I look at my bike and feel like I got what I paid for. Alot of fun.
Perhaps it would be rhetorical to say that you get what you pay for.
I pay a premium for my fun.
Bill

Hey Mojo,
Do I understand correctly that you went to Canada to get your bike from the U.S? I have considered this but didn't know if I would have any difficulties at the border. Can you please E-mail me exactly how this worked out for you??? I would be gratefull.... :) degeyter@cpros.com

SFO,I like your philosophy, I wouldnt trade mine for anything. In my opinion, if you were able to get one you are a fortunate man.

Any other Northern Cal dealers and prices? I just received an insulting offer further south at the Yamaha Dealer in Seaside, CA (near monterey). He quoted me around $7500 with labor for a baja install at $250. After calculating $6199 + tax@8.25 of $515, MAGIC FEES = $785. I'm 21 years old so I realized dealers may take advantage of this, but this deal was off the charts INSULTING. This offer came after I visited the dealership twice to look at the bike and talk with him.

[I have a buddy who sold his mint 92 DR350. He advertised it for $2200 and then finally settled for $1800. This bike is not even in the same league and will never be with mods as a WR.You paid too much.
If you want to make a comparison with your DR, you are looking at the wrong page. Try looking at the DRZ page. They too are under-suspended, over weight and cost less.
Just ask their owners. Two of my riding partners have them. Or you could sell your "thing" and wait till you grow up and buy a WR for money well spent.

I had to pay full retail for my 2000. Here in the Denver area the WR's usually sell within two weeks of their arrival at the shop and often someone already has money down before they ship.

There is one 426 that has been at a local dealer for 3 weeks. It seems some people are opting for the 250 because of it's lighter weight.

FYI: Price Quote for 2001 WR426F from www.greatoutdoor-yam-kaw.com
Just quoted me $5750 and will ship anywhere in the states. To Cali, shipping to the yard is $390 and to the door is $570. This offer is much better than most of the Cali dealers i've heard from.
